Getting Started
Taking the first step is often the hardest part.
Here is exactly what to expect when you reach out either for yourself or your child.
For Adult Clients
-
01.
BOOK A CONSULTATION CALL
If you think we might be a good fit, please book a free 15 minute phone consultation call here. In that call you will have the opportunity to ask me any questions and tell me a little bit about what’s going on and what you’re looking for help with. In that call I will also be asking questions to make sure that I believe I can provide you the treatment you’re looking for.
-
02.
SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT
If we both think we’re a good fit, and you would like to make an appointment, we can start talking about scheduling. The way I handle scheduling is that each client I see has a standing appointment so we will need to make sure that what I have available works for your schedule.
-
03.
INTAKE APPOINTMENTS
I view the first 1-3 appointments as the intake period. During this time, I will ask you to elaborate on some of the things that you wrote about in the intake paperwork and obtain a much better sense of your therapy goals. I will also administer a comprehensive mental health assessment called the DIAMOND. From there, we will collaboratively develop a treatment plan.
-
04.
ONGOING THERAPY SESSIONS
We will work on implementing your treatment plan. This will start out with weekly sessions, and as progress is made, we will discuss whether to decrease the frequency of sessions. If we are struggling with making progress, the treatment plan will be adjusted accordingly.
-
05.
TERMINATION
Therapy has an end. As you are feeling better, and we have decreased sessions, we will discuss whether there are other things you would like to address before ending treatment. We will also discuss how to maintain your progress and what might indicate you need to come back into therapy. It is not unusual for someone to complete therapy and at some point, want to return as they may face new challenges or symptoms.
For Parents of Teens & Tweens

01.
BOOK A CONSULTATION CALL
If you think I might be a good fit for you and your tween/teen, please book a free 15 minute phone consultation call here. If possible, I would recommend that your child be present during the call, whether they want to participate or just listen. In that call you will have the opportunity to ask me any questions and tell me a little bit about your concerns and your child will have the opportunity to share whether they have any concerns and what they think about the idea of therapy.
It is ok if your child disagrees with what you are saying as I want to get their perspective as well. It is also ok if your child says that they are not going to participate in therapy, as this is not an uncommon first reaction and one with which I can work. In that call I will also be asking questions to make sure that I believe I can provide you the treatment you’re looking for.

SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT
Once we've decided to move forward together, we'll look at booking a consistent weekly session. Having a regular appointment helps create a dependable space where your tween or teen can build trust and feel comfortable over time. We'll review my current availability and choose a standing appointment that works for both your family's schedule and mine.

03.
INTAKE APPOINTMENTS
I view the first 1-3 appointments as the intake period as well as a time to start building rapport. I will spend some of the time meeting with you, some with your child and some with both of you. I will administer the DIAMOND screener which asks a few questions about many disorders and if any are positive, I will complete the DIAMOND assessment. Based on your and your child’s concerns and my assessment, we will develop a treatment plan. Some treatment plans require more parental involvement than others.
I may administer additional screening assessments, including the PHQ-A and GAD7 if your child screens positive for depression or anxiety.

PARENT POLICY
If you and your child’s other parent are not together, it is my policy to reach out to the other parent, introduce myself and to see if they have any concerns regarding your child. I will also let them know that they can contact me if they wish for general progress updates. If you do not want me to contact them, I will need you to provide me with paperwork showing that you have sole legal custody. If you have any additional questions about this, we can discuss during initial consultation call or during intake appointments.

BOOK A CONSULTATION CALL
If you think I might be a good fit for you and your child, please book a free 15 minute phone consultation call here. I would recommend that a child not be part of this call as it is frequently more comfortable for the parent to be open about concerns without the child present. In that call you will have the opportunity to ask me any questions you have and I will be assessing whether I can provide you and your child the treatment you’re looking for.

02.
SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT
If we both feel that we're a good fit, we'll arrange a regular appointment time that works for your family. I offer ongoing weekly sessions at the same day and time wherever possible, helping children benefit from the consistency and routine that supports their progress. We'll discuss the appointment times I have available and find the best option for your schedule.
